Although most websites, other than Youtube, are mostly made up of written text and maybe a photo or two, there’s no question that video has come to the forefront of presentations on the web. Your website can benefit by integrating video into it as well, and this includes those that you may create yourself, but you also may find other videos produced by others that offer up such great information that you’ll be inclined to share it with your website visitors.
To be sure, I use video on this website quite often, simply because I think it may help to describe or present certain information in a more understandable way, plus once you get the hang of creating a short video, they come together pretty quickly. At some point, if you’re interested, I’ll talk more about how I create the videos here, but for now, I simply wanted to cover how you can integrate a video from Youtube, or any of the big video distribution sites on the net. These include sites like Daily Motion, MySpace, Vimeo, Viddler, and others.
Most of these services make sharing, or embedding a video into a webpage pretty easy. There’s usually a code that’s offered on the video page itself that you can cut and paste into the HTML window while you’re creating a WordPress post or page. It’s all very easy to do. Nevertheless, you may one day run into a type of video file like an flv. (flash video file) which is not as easy to embed.
So I’d suggest that you look into using a plugin called Vipers Video Quicktags which makes the integration of virtually any kind of video file very easy. You can do some minor adjustments to the player color, and edit other features as well so it’s a handy little tool to use.
I will be the first to admit that most often I’d prefer to create videos myself for my websites but by the same token, good content is good for your viewers and there’s no reason why you shouldn’t share something that’s really helpful if you come across it. If you’re just getting started, it’s easy to add additional value to your content this way, and in time you can begin to create your own compilations to add to the webs viral video extravaganza.
