Contact Forms Plugin

One of the most important additions to any website is to create a way for people to email or correspond with you directly from your site. In the old days you would simply create a mailto link from your email address, folks would click on that and then their email program would popup and easy as pie, they could send an email along to you.

There was a problem with this though, in that your email address was posted publicly which is a great way to get a lot more junk mail in the inbox.

A better route to go is to simply create a form that allows people to put in a few key bits of information, along with their comment or question, then click a send button and you get the compilation in your email in short while. It’s clean, safe, and normally easy to work with. The only problem is many base installations and themes in WordPress don’t come with the feature built in. There are quite a few themes now that can be purchased that come with the functionality however. In the meantime, while you work your way up to one of these fancy themes, you can still use a no cost plugin that makes the work of setting up a contact form pretty easy.

As with most plugins, there are a lot of options for form creation but I’ve always gone with a simple one called Contact Form 7. Thus far I’ve never had a problem with it in terms of set up, or function, so that’s good enough for me.

In the video below I’ll show you how to set this up on your site and get it up and running.
